Basically, if you're not into Mercedes vehicles and their history you probably won't want to read this 😃😁😂.

We ran the gauntlet of the weather and rode the trike to the museum with just a few spots of rain arriving in the underground car park dry, fit and well. Even this short journey was hampered by road closures, we could see the museum but couldn't get there, we had a 10 minute detour 😣. We took nearly 60 photos and 1 video, so here are a few for your "pleasure":

We'll start with the world's 1st motorcycle and a very early train:

...and continue with 2 concept cars, the 1st being inspired by and used in the 2nd Avatar movie:

The oldest Mercedes in existance:

...it's a 40 hp Mercedes Simplex, it was the direct successor of the 35 hp Mercedes designed by Wilhelm Maybach which was the world's first automobile of the modern age (or so the publicity goes).

There were some old style petrol pumps:

Mercedes designed and build a vehicle to specifically carry racing cars from circuit to circuit:

...and it was carrying a very famous 300 SLR car:

Princess Diana took possession of this 500 SL in December 1991 and was the 1st member of the Royal Household to own a foreign car, this was the actual car:

Due to pressure from the government, trade unions and industry , she gave the car back in September 1992. We'll leave you to have your own thoughts on the matter!

You may remember seeing this mercedes at the movies:

...Jurasic Park and The Lost World.

18 years ago we bought our 1st Mercedes and had a factory collection, we were flown out to Stuttgart business class, 2 nights in a hotel with an evening meal, a tour of the factory, tickets to the museum and 1st class return on the Eurotunnel. All of this took the place of the delivery charge. We mention this as the museum has changed significantlly. When we visited there was a lot of technical information of how they designed the cars but this time it was more of a "brochure" just showing the vehicles. There was a photographic time line of world history alongside the Mercedes history in English and German. There was more available but on an app urghhhhh !!!

After the museum we visited the dealership and had a look around the new cars, we only bought 2 ha ha ha ha !!!

It rained on and off all day but we managed to ride back to the hotel again, with a few spots of rain but we were OK. The evening brightened up and we even saw some blue skies 😬😱.

We went out for our evening meal in the same place as yesterday and, another great meal:

Sand had the mushrooms again and I had 2 pork steakes in a mushroom sauce with seasoned potatoes, we shared, as usual. Sand couldn't finish her food but that's not unusual as the portion sizes are so big !!! The wine we had was 19 euros for 1 litre:

... the local German wine tastes great and is not expensive, no taxes !!!

The bar is a bit retro, great atmosphere and, as we said yesterday, plays old soft rock music, Stevie Ray Vaughan's type music for those who know.

We are sat in our hotel with yet another glass of wine completing the post.

We move on tomorrow...
